The Dark Empire by Chanimur The Dark Empire by Chanimur
I put this together over the last couple of days, mainly to play with different textures, etc. I tried to do a subtle texture application to the mountains; it turned out okay, although I still want to perfect it further. The distressed paper was made by [link] . Fonts used were Roman Antique and Monotype Corvisa.
Mountains are from a font called Hill Country by Jon Ross, found on www.dafont.com.

This is the western part of a tropical continent; this part is overshadowed by the Vasarian Empire - the so-called 'Dark Empire', due to their necromancer priest-queens. It's kind of an Egyptian/Arabic mash-up. The nations to the north and east of it are more traditionally Arabic, while the jungle nations in the northwest are an Aztec/African fusion. Far to the east are plains/Mongol barbarians.

Not currently; I just don't have the time.  :D

You might try the Map-making Requests section of the forums at www.cartographersguild.com.

There's a couple of other people I've asked directly, but if they fall through or take too long deciding I might do just that. Thanks

I didn't really keep track of the steps I took. Unfortunately.

You might try stopping by www.cartographersguild.com if you're getting into map-making; they've got loads of great tutorials there.

Very amazing!

Are the trees fill layer or are they individually brushed? The layout of it all is incredible :)

Individually brushed. It takes much longer, but I think the results look better than pattern-stamping or fill.

Agreed, it does look much better than it would have as one big mass with an obvious pattern. Kudos for the hard work, I would have given up before the first group was done XD

I really love how this looks. The only thing that confuses me is the way the border (which generally corresponds to mileage, I believe) doesn't match the scale in miles. the mountains and forests look very nice, and I like the way you've textured the water near the shores. The colors are really appealing.

The border isn't meant to conform to the scale in any way. It's merely decorative.
